This is the only ammo I’ve run through my 458 and it’s been flawless. Accuracy is awesome, no feed troubles, consistent. Ive taken hogs, whitetail, axis and nilgai with the 300 jhp. Matched with Vortex Razor 1-6 this is now my hunting gun for anything from 150 yds in. The 7.62 x 51 is for ranges beyond that. Great ammo and no reason to pay more somewhere else when this is a winner.

Reaserching the origin of the 458 ammo inspired me to build the rifle. I tried numerous brands of ammo. The quality, price and service from Steinel Ammo (XCaliber) stands out. So much that I had to build a matching pistol. The ammo runs flawless through both firearms. No doubt the best 458 SOCOM ammo on the market!

    5 out of 5 Steinel (XCaliber) 458 SOCOM, 100lb Fl hog...kinda didn't seem fair

    PZ

The Steinel (XCaliber) 458 Socom semi jacketed hollow point dropped him in his tracks. FL hogs are TOUGH, he bolted just as I shot so the shot was a bit off, but the round is very forgiving and he is in the freezer. The terminal ballistics were devastating!

I used to hunt with a 30.06 or 308 nosler tip, 150gr. I found out that targets that were closer than 150 yards I didn’t get the full expansion and the bullet would pass through both lungs with little expansion of the bullet resulting in tracking a wounded deer. I needed something with a lot of knock down power and shock. I started hunting with a 45-70 using a 300gr HP. I used this rifle for many years as I got older the rifle got heavier. My son talked me into a 458 Socom on a AR frame. Finding rounds is not that easy and the first rounds I bought were not consistent. when I weighed each round the grain difference was as much as 5 grains. At a 100yards the tightest 3 round group 5 MOA. My son told me to try Xcaliber so I bought 2 boxes. When I weighed the rounds the variance was only .005 between rounds. When I shot this time my 3 round groups was sub MOA at 100 yards. A vast improvement. The picture of the deer is a non-typical rack, the deer’s weight was 175lbs with a 24″ neck. I used an Xcaliber 300gr HP, shot the deer at 105 to 110 yards. The shock power of the round knocked down deer and did not suffer just like my 45-70. This was last deer season, In preparation for this year deer season and pig hunting I purchased 2 more boxes because Xcailiber rounds are reliable, because all the round have a very lower variation means that the company has very good quality control in there production process. This also means more consistence round placement.

Was reluctant to purchase from this site as I had seen or heard very little about it. However the price alone for .458 was very enticing a worth a shot I figured. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. From day one the attention to customer is superb. I received emails from start to finish. Upon shipment of my ammo and even a notification that it had arrived. Even followed up after to see how I liked it. I would definitely do repeat business with [Steinel] and encourage others to give them a shot.

Ive tried pretty much every brand and load of available ammunition for 458 and 50Beowulf even the 3+ dollar a round high end brands and i cant see any advantage at all they have over Steinel Ammo (XCaliber). Steinel Ammo (XCaliber) is loaded as hot or hotter, the slugs are seated better (some other brands the slug walks out if you chamber it a couple times). The primers are not excessively hard..never had a light strike with Steinel Ammo (XCaliber) even with JP reduced effort hammer spring kits. I just cant understand people paying more for less. This Ammo is good and anyone that says otherwise probably has a gun issue they need to sort out.

The ammunition for the 458 socom is scarce to say the least. Made an order online due to the resources locally being exhausted and all 458 socom ammo on backorder. Price was fair until shipping was added to the cost. Then it made it more expensive than anything around here. Made the purchase anyway having no other choice. Ended up paying 51$ for 20 rounds. My experience pushed me to get a reloading setup and I’ll never pay like that for ammo again.

[I would like to see] ammo with free shipping once you have reached a certain dollar amount

Fast shipping great price. Feed great in my .458 build and very accurate out to 100 yards (that’s as far as I tried it but I’m sure it can be accurate out to further distance). Will definitely buy more and you can’t beat the price especially if you like to shoot alot of rds like I do.

Some of the most accurate factory ammo I’ve ever shot. This target was at 50 yards. Shot in the lower left corner was 1st, then center. After the 4th shot in the center, I thought I was missing the target, so I shot the lower right corner. Turns out, I was on target and just elongating the holes.

    Private

I weighed out every cartridge I had from a 20rd box and was amazed that they all fell between 519gr and 520gr. To be within 1.0 gr of deviation for something as heavy as 520gr is astounding. Good job Steinel Ammunition (Xcaliber).

Purchased three boxes of the 300gr Hrn Jhp. Quick delivery. Went out to the range and sent first five rounds with 1″ groups at 50 yards. Three rounds a 75 yards same grouping. Then five rounds at 100 yards at 1 1/2″ groupings. I am happy with the quality. All rounds went off absolutely no failure to feeds or misfires. Will purchase again. Tank You!
